- Rose G. Mantell, 79, passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Theodora (Russo) Vicario.
Rose attended local schools in Buffalo and moved to Niagara Falls following her marriage to Samuel “Scorch” Mantell on June 2, 1956 at St. Paul Church in Kenmore, NY. Rose enjoyed playing the piano, as well as singing. She was also an avid dancer and loved playing scrabble. Mrs. Mantell also enjoyed spending the summer months at the family camp in the Leisurewood Community in Akron with friends and family.
In addition to her cherished husband of 60 years, she is also survived by her loving daughters, Julie (Wayne) Evans, Doraine (late Robert “Bobby”) Gravanti; dear grandchildren Jamie Naus, Michael (Karen) Naus and Zachary Evans; adored great-grandchildren Jonathon Nelson, Emerson Naus and Isabelle Naus, as well as her devoted siblings, Charles (Candace) Vicario II, Gerri (Mark) Salay; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her loving boston terrier, Bruno, and brother-in-law Ronald (Martha) Mantell. She was predeceased by one sister Louise (late Willam) Manspeaker, two nephews Charles Vicario III and Joseph Crowley and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Julia Mantell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9 from 2 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will follow on Monday at 10 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
