- Bruce M. Hillman, age 81 of Niagara Falls NY, died Sunday April 9, 2017 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
Bruce was born July 18, 1935 in Ransomville, the son of the late Melvin and Inez (Demmin) Hillman. He attended Wilson High School and began working at GM Harrison Radiator in 1954. Bruce was an Inspector/Packer and retired in 1978 after 24 years. He lived in Bergholtz for 53 years before moving to Niagara Falls. Bruce also served as a PFC in the NY National Guard from 1954 – 1958.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in LaSalle. Bruce was an avid woodworker and enjoyed the Sanborn Antique Days. He also enjoyed working on the Demmin Family Farm as a younger man.
He is survived by his children, Richard Hillman (Zelda) of Tok, Alaska, Linda (Buck) Woodham of Lakeland, FL, and Daniel Hillman (Albert E. Van Dette) of Fredonia, NY ; his grandchildren, Dawn, Renee, Rhonda, Nicole, and Glenn; his great grandchildren, Lexis, Jacob, and Jacob, a great great grandchild, Araiaha; a brother, Larry Hillman of Ransomville; and a sister, Joyce (Robert) Atwater of Appleton, NY. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Helms.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 28, at 2:00 pm in the Grace Lutheran Church, 736 Cayuga Dr., Niagara Falls, with the Rev. Benjamin Bahr officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will follow in St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Church Rd., Town Of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 736 Cayuga Dr, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, or to the American Diabetes Assoc., WNY Chapter, 315 Alberta Dr., Amherst, NY 14226. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, NY.
