- Ronald J. Mirabelli of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was born on May 27, 1939, in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Frederick and Mary (nee DeSantis) Mirabelli.
Ron attended Holy Angels Academy and Canisius High School. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Buffalo State University. After college, he taught elementary school in Spring Valley and North Collins, NY. In 1966, he became an administrator at Niagara County Community College, where he met his future wife, the former Sue Nichols. They were married on April 20, 1968, in Ransomville, NY.
After serving in various administrative roles, Ron retired in 1997 as Dean of Enrollment Services. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard and was proud to have been a company commander of the 127th Armored Division based at the Connecticut Street Armory in Buffalo, NY.
Throughout his life, Ron had a deep passion for sports. He played three sports in high school and basketball in college, and for a brief time, he played semi-pro football. His love for sports continued into his work career, where he enjoyed daily racquetball games. In retirement, Ron cherished watching his grandchildren's sporting events, listening to classical music, bike riding, and traveling.
Besides his parents, Ron is predeceased by his caring brothers Frederick and Richard Mirabelli. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sue; loving children, Dr. Mark (Kathleen) Mirabelli of Victor, NY and Elizabeth (Brian) Scully of Ransomville, NY; cherished grandchildren, Jack, James, and Liam Scully and Julia, Katherine, and Joseph Mirabelli; dear sister MaryAnn (Jerome) Piwko of Lancaster, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 2-5 PM at the Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Ransomville Baptist Church, 2582 Youngstown Lockport Road, Ransomville, NY, at 10 AM. Family and friends are asked to please assemble at the church. Interment to follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.

DirectionsSend FlowersRonald J. Mirabelli of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was born on May 27, 1939, in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Frederick and Mary (nee DeSantis) Mirabelli.
Ron attended Holy Angels Academy and Canisius High School. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Buffalo State University. After college, he taught elementary school in Spring Valley and North Collins, NY. In 1966, he became an administrator at Niagara County Community College, where he met his future wife, the former Sue Nichols. They were married on April 20, 1968, in Ransomville, NY.
After serving in various administrative roles, Ron retired in 1997 as Dean of Enrollment Services. He was a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard and was proud to have been a company commander of the 127th Armored Division based at the Connecticut Street Armory in Buffalo, NY.
Throughout his life, Ron had a deep passion for sports. He played three sports in high school and basketball in college, and for a brief time, he played semi-pro football. His love for sports continued into his work career, where he enjoyed daily racquetball games. In retirement, Ron cherished watching his grandchildren's sporting events, listening to classical music, bike riding, and traveling.
Besides his parents, Ron is predeceased by his caring brothers Frederick and Richard Mirabelli. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sue; loving children, Dr. Mark (Kathleen) Mirabelli of Victor, NY and Elizabeth (Brian) Scully of Ransomville, NY; cherished grandchildren, Jack, James, and Liam Scully and Julia, Katherine, and Joseph Mirabelli; dear sister MaryAnn (Jerome) Piwko of Lancaster, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 2-5 PM at the Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc., 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Ransomville Baptist Church, 2582 Youngstown Lockport Road, Ransomville, NY, at 10 AM. Family and friends are asked to please assemble at the church. Interment to follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
If desired, memorials may be made in Ron's honor to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, or Ransomville Baptist Church.
