Helen obtained a B.S. in Nursing from Niagara University and established a long career as a Registered Nurse (RN). She worked as a nurse in varied capacities in the communities in which she lived both in the United States and Canada. She also taught RN students at Roswell Park for a time.
She is survived by her children Cheryl Germain (Michel), David Norris (Janey), Mary Norris, Julie Norris (John Gamon), Jennifer Abbott, Michael Norris, and Rita Norris (fiancé Jeffrey Newcomer); her grandchildren Carla Travis, Derek Germain (fiancé Melanie Lebel), Jessica Norris, David Norris, and Ryan Gamon; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Raymond (David), sister-in-law Nancy Neff, and nephews Jason Neff, Jeremy Neff, Jim Repsher (Holly English), and David Repsher (Amanda). She was preceded in death by former spouse William Bremner; former spouse and father of her children David Norris; parents Merrill and Marion Neff, and brother Donald Neff.
Helen introduced her family to a lifelong love of Lake Erie, Canada, and Florida; camping; road trips; a deep appreciation for water and nature; and an appreciation for the simple life.
In her retirement years in Florida, she enjoyed life with her husband Bill as migratory “snowbirds” and spending time with family and friends. Helen was an avid beachgoer and often looked for lake lucky stones and natural items to create artistic decorations.
No gatherings are currently planned. A celebration of life will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coral Restoration Foundation (coralrestoration.org) or Alliance for the Great Lakes (greatlakes.org).
