Tonawanda Mill Workman Dies in Buffalo Hospital
North Tonawanda, Dec. 21 (Special).— William F. KARKAU, 38 years old, who was Injured at the miill of the White Gratwick & Mitchell Company Tuesday, died at the General hospital in Buffaho this morning. He was a very popular young man.
Mr. KARKAU was born in Germany and came to North Tonawanda 30 years ago. He was a saw Filler by occupation and had work at the White Gratwick & Mitchell mill the last five years.
Besides his widow, an adopted daughter, Evelyn KARKAU, his father. Martin KARKAU, two brothers, John and Gustave KARKAU, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary SCHULTS and Mra William JANOWSKY, all of North Tonawanda survive. He was the secretary of Frieden's Lutheran Church in Scowak? Street. Funeral at No. 90 Keil street on Sunday at 2 p.m. *Note: his name was index as William T. Karkau on the Fulton postcard site of old Newspapers of New York. *FYI: married 1895 Mary M. Salefske (1872-1936) d/o Gottfried Salefske & Eva Kolpack. Note: William Daughter Evelyn M. Gust died 2005 in TN.
