- Frances Agnes (Borelli) Mariglio, 98, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2024 at Elderwood of Grand Island, NY. Born on November 16, 1926 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale ‘Pat’ and Kathleen (Flynn) Borelli.
Frances graduated from the Loretto Academy in June of 1944, and attended Niagara University in 1945. After World War II, she married Angelo J. ‘Sonny’ Mariglio on August 7, 1946 at St. Ann’s Church in Niagara Falls Ontario. Mr. Mariglio predeceased her on March 4, 1999. Frances moved with her husband to Niagara Falls, NY, and became an American Citizen in January of 1949.
Frances worked in retail in family-owned businesses in Niagara Falls, Ontario and then later for McAnne’s Dress Shop, Jenss, and Burlington until her retirement in January 2001. She was am very active member of the former Sacred Heart Parish and St. Theresa’s Church (the current St. Raphael Parish). Frances was also a member and officer of the Women’s Guild, Mother’s Club and the DeVeaux Seniors Club.
Frances enjoyed cooking, traveling, music and ballroom dancing, but her family was always her top priority.

Frances is survived by her beloved children, Francine P. Mariglio, Maria A. (late Jerry) Sertick, Angela M. (Patrick) Ponzi. Anita M. (Richard) Cavese, and Donna M. Mariglio; her loving grandchildren, Jessica A. (Brad) McElveen, Samuel D. (Paige) Trapasso, Patrick M. (Cari) Ponzi II, Marissa C. Ponzi, Brittany A. (Joseph) Nigh, Christopher R. Cavese, and Amanda M. O’Donnell; her cherished great-grandchildren, Sophia Trapasso, Samuel Trapasso, Ivy Trapasso, Julian McElveen, Patrick J. Ponzi, Logan Ponzi, Allina Nigh, Ava Nigh, Malia O’Donnell, Salvatore O’Donnell, and Charlee Cavese; she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kathleen (late Joseph) Mariglio, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband of 52 years, she was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Borelli, and her sisters-in-law, Jean (Casey) Pietschman and Mafalda (late Julio) Pietrangeli.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Frances’ Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 13 at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Parish, 3840 Macklem Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14305. Everyone please assemble at church. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Community Missions, Heart Love & Soul Food Pantry, or to St. Raphael Parish.
