- Karen Rose (Baehr) Cummings, of Akron, NY, passed away Friday morning, November 1, 2029, following a two-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She passed away at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 8, 1951 in Medina, NY, daughter to the late Wilfred and Margaret (Ireland) Baehr.
Karen's unwavering faith in God, her strong will to live and the love for her family carried her through life. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years but her job as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother fulfilled her life. She loved celebrating holidays and decorating for each one. She looked forward to family gatherings, playing board and card games and watching movies.
She is the loving mother of Tammy (Joseph) Kowalik, and two sets of twins, Daniel Cummings and David Cummings ,and Bruce and Brandy Cummings (Chris Stinson); proud grandmother to nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Karen is also survived by brothers, Ron (Cathy) Baehr, Tom (Mary) Baehr, Dean ( Phyllis) Baehr; and sisters, Kathy (Jack) Bower, Jean Faskel and Terri Baehr; and life long friends, Marlene Rosenburg and Brenda Bower.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held during a memorial service at One Church in Akron.
Family and friends that wish to honor the memory of Karen may make donations on her behalf to University at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Foundation, Niagara County Hospice or One Church of Akron.
