- HOCHADEL - Leonard, electrician 5/22/2002
RANSOMVILLE - A funeral service for Leonard Hochadel, 84, an electrician and longtime resident of Ransomville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Hardison Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Road. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Road, Cambria.
Hochadel died Monday (May 20, 2002) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a long illness.
He was an electrician working out of Local 237, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired in 1979.
Hochadel was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 and receiving the Bronze Star. He took part in the Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns.
Hochadel was a member and past treasurer of North Ridge United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of the Masonic Consistory, a past master and member for more than 40 years of the Ransomville Lodge 551, F&AM, a member and past master of the Niagara Lodge of Perfections, and a member and past noble grand of the Odd Fellows in Lockport. He was a founder of the Lewiston-Porter Square and Compass Club. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Iva S. Canfield; a daughter, Elaine A. Helling of Palmer, Alaska; a son, Lyle of Gowanda; and a granddaughter.
Ransomville Masonic Lodge 551 will conduct services at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
