Eleanor Mae Canfield

NEWFANE — Eleanor Mae Canfield, 94, passed away peacefully at Newfane Rehab Health Care Center on September 19, 2013, after a brief stay.
She was a lifelong resident of Wilson, born April 25, 1919, daughter of the late Frederick and Edith (Mudge) Shoultz. She attended local schools and married Arthur Canfield, who preceded her in death January 5, 1983. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Clarence "Pete" Shoultz and Clifford Shoultz; sisters, Francis Doherty and Corinne McGovern.
Surviving her are two nephews, Thomas (Kay) Doherty of Kalamazoo, MI and Peter (Michelle) Toenniessen of Albion, NY; two nieces, Jeanette (Tony) Pullano of E. Rochester, NY and Molly MacIntyre of Vero Beach, FL. Eleanor is survived by several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She loved life, was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining. To most she was known as "Big Momma". Above all, Eleanor was the most devoted Yankee fan in Wilson.
Visitation will be at Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson, NY, Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 10:00 AM. Funeral service begins at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson. The family request memorials be made to the Wilson Fire Company or Niagara Hospice. No flowers, please.
