  Gerald E. Vanderheite of Appleton, NY, loving companion of Sheila Flanagan, entered into rest on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Niagara Hospice House. He was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on May 11, 1941, the son of the late Franklin and Julia Prohaska Vanderheite. Jerry taught Social Studies at Newfane Middle School. Brother of Lynn (late Carl) Olsen, Karen (Les) Shiesley, David (Joanne) Vanderheite, and the late Richard (Shirley) Vanderheite. Also survived by Alex (Jamie) Moskal, nieces, nephews, and his beloved black lab “Buddy.” Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, on SATURDAY, April 6, 2019, from 4-6pm, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 6pm. Interment will be in Corwin Cemetery.
