- Anna May (Young) Amacher, 77, of the Town of Wheatfield, NY, passed from this life on Monday, July 15, 2019 at her residence. Born on February 8, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and M. Isabel (MacDonald) Young. On May 9, 1964, Anna May married Lawrence D. Amacher at Bacon Memorial United Presbyterian Church.
Anna May graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Mrs.Amacher worked as an administrative assistant for Amedisys (formerly Staff Builders) in Niagara Falls NY. She was a former member and served as Deacon of Bacon Memorial United Presbyterian Church. Anna May also was affiliated and served various offices and served as Beloved Queen of Niagara River Triangle No. 120. She served as Junior Advisor of the Niagara & Monroe District and served at the state level as District Deputy and Deputy State Director. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoyed traveling with her husband to Florida and was always on the sidelines cheering her grandchildren to victory as their “Softball Nana." Anna May spent countless hours involved in ceramics, counted cross stitch, quilting and baking.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by one daughter, Lori (Kevin W.) Haseley; one son, Lawrence D. (Deborah) Amacher, Jr., both of Sanborn NY; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Daniel) Mohr, Deanna (Fiancé Jesse Billinghurst) Sornberger, Chelsey (Gregory) Madole, Megan, Lauren, Lawrence D. (Trey) Amacher, III and Danica Amacher; great-grandson, Anthony Billinghurst, expecting a great-grandson, Jaxson Joseph Madole; one sister-in-law, Patricia Young, two nieces, Kristin (Jason) Castiglia and Tracy (Jeffrey) Ashline; two nephews, Brian (Elizabeth) Young and Jeffrey (Nicole) Young. In addition to her parents, Anna May was predeceased by a brother, Thomas W. Young.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to The Buffalo Medical Group, especially Dr.David R. Dougherty, M.D. and his medical staff, for their unending support. Also to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital Staff and Amedisys in Niagara Falls.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A private interment will be held with Anna May's family at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
