- OBITUARY
Marie E. "Emily" Voelker of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 23,2020, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 9, 1927, a daughter of the late Michele A. and Lena [Ruggiero] Romano.
Mrs. Voelker graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1945.
She was employed as an office clerk with the Carborundum Corporation coated abrasive division for 38 years before retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Voelker was a member of the Carborundum Girls Club, St. Joseph's Children of Mary Sodality, St. Peter's Church Altar and Rosary Society, the Rainbow City Chapter of Sweet Adelines and the Lewiston Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed bowling in the Carborundum mixed and girls leagues, planning dinners and lunches for the Carborundum "Gourmet Club" for coworkers, knitting, crocheting, baking and cooking.
Mrs. Voelker will be remembered for dressing up as a different clown each Halloween and parading through Carborundum to brighten the day of the plant employees.
She was the wife of the late Howard L. Voelker, who passed away in May of 2003.
Mrs. Voelker is survived by a brother Michael Romano, a daughter in law Deborah (Steve) Burns, her cousin's wife Stella DeSanto and her daughter Rebecca (Michael) Taylor, a niece Frances Ellis and her extended family the Paul Muoio Family, JoAnn and William Carpenter and John DeSantis.
She was the stepmother of the late David A. Voelker and a late cousin Robert A. DeSanto.
Private Funeral Services were held at the wishes of her family.
Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
