- Anthony J. Nanula, age 96 of Lewiston, NY, entered into rest on April 17th, 2020 while under the care of Hospice.
Predeceased by only three weeks was his beloved wife, Violet, who passed on March 26, 2020. They celebrated their 68th anniversary together on April 19 in heaven. Theirs was truly a love story.
Anthony was born in Niagara Falls, and went to Niagara Falls High School and attended Buffalo State College. He served in the Army in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, where he was "The Ping Pong Champ." Anthony was bald, he always told his grandchildren that his hair got shot off in the war.
Anthony moved to Southern California where he met and married Violet and had four daughters. In 1962 they moved back to Niagara Falls to own and operate several Tops and B-Kwik Supermarkets. Anthony loved to golf, play cards and watch his grandchildren. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his siblings, Savino (Virgina) Nanula, Jeanette Cadille, and Richard (Shirley) Nanula; four daughters, Maria (Michael) Murawski, Jeannine Hardy, Nina Nanula, Anne Marie (Gary) Burns; and his seven grandchildren, Laura (Mark) Pyrczak, Michael (Heather) Murawski, Charles (Amanda) Hardy, Anthony (Kianna) Hardy, Britney (Mark) DeGiulio, Nicholas Burns, Gabriel Burns. Anthony had nine great-grandchildren.
They both will be greatly missed.
Donations can be made to Niagara Hospice.
