Sylvester A. Barone, 62, of Bonita Springs, FL and formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Sylvester C. ‘Sonny’ (Kathleen) Barone and the late Anna (nee Allotta) Barone.
Sil, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara-Wheatfield High School. He was a talented home builder and owned Sil Barone Homes, Inc. in Niagara Falls for many years. In 2007 he moved to Fort Myers, FL where he currently operated West Coast Renovations. He was a longtime member and former president of the Niagara County Builders Association, as well as the New York State Home Builders Association. An avid outdoorsman, Sil enjoyed fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. He was also a car and motorcycle enthusiast. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his father, Sil is survived by his children, Carli Plumeri and Sylvester Nicholas Barone; his siblings, Anthony (Kimberly) Barone, Christopher (Lori Janik) Barone and Charles (Tanya) Barone; two special nieces, Ciara Barone and Celena Barone; his former wife, Dana Billman; close friends, Laurina Tisdale and Michael Mariani; as well as many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 23 from 3 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Saturday at 10:15 AM followed by Sil’s Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Leo’s Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Entombment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be held privately.
