- Shirley D’Apollo, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020. She was born in Gastown (City of Tonawanda) on January 27, 1935, the daughter of LeRoy and Laura (Hardy) Whipple.
A gracious lady, Shirley was a very active and successful gardener. She took great pride in her beautiful gardens and her home. She was a social butterfly, loved visiting with her friends and neighbors and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (late Giacomo) Alessi of Niagara Falls; Pamela (Raymond) Gillis of the Town of Niagara; siblings, Alice Gilpatrick of North Dakota and Bernice (Elmer) Degenhart of Averill Park, NY; grandchildren, Lydia Truesdell; Laura (Kyle) Gleason; Nicholas D’Apollo and Alexandra Benedict; her son in law, Brian (Kathleen) Benedict; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, husband, Michael D’Apollo in October of 2009; a daughter, Maria Benedict and siblings, LeRoy; Dorothy; Harold; Robert and Kenny Whipple.
Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or services, Arrangements where entrusted to the LANE FUNERAL HIOME, INC., Niagara Falls.
