- Franklin Delano Trayer, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away surrounded by his family, after a brief illness on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was 79. He was born in Locust, PA on October 2, 1933, a son of the late Merle L. and Mabel M. (Klepfer) Trayer. He attended schools in Pennsylvania and then moved to Niagara Falls in 1950. He married Mary Williard on October 17, 1952, and they remained happily married for more than 60 years until his passing. Mr. Trayer began to work for General Motors in 1951 and retired in 1981 as a machine operator after 30 years of service. He and his wife were devoted foster parents who loved to travel to the southern states in their R.V. every winter. He was an accomplished woodcrafter and also enjoyed playing bingo and spending time on his computer. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his four children, Linda D. (Kevin) Lebrenz of Concord, NC, Franklin Delano (Nancy) Trayer, Jr. of Whispering Pines, NC, Sharon D. (Timothy) Collins of Niagara Falls, and Thomas D. Trayer of Southern Pines, NC. He is also survived by siblings, James (Jeanette) Trayer and Bonnie (James) Howell; six grandchildren, Dianna (Jason) Brock, Robert (Jen) Burns, Timothy (Amanda Smith) Collins, Jr., Franklin (Jessica) Trayer III, Thomas (Paula) Trayer and Eric (Rachael) Trayer; a special foster child, a little girl he held dearest to his heart, Rosie Bright; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings, Mildred Haggerty and Leroy and Ronald Trayer.
