- Gary W. Hardy Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Gary W. Hardy, 78 of Niagara Falls, NY announces his passing peacefully on Monday August 11, 2025 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Gary was the beloved son of the late Jessie I. (Thomas) and Kenneth D. Hardy.
Gary attended local schools. On May 24, 1966 he joined the United States Army stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. In 1968, he then transferred to USAAC, St. Louis. Missouri. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska from 1968-1972, where received an Honorable discharge on May 23, 1972.
He was employed by the Niagara Junction Railroad, after serving his country. Gary loved life and enjoyed hunting with his brothers and nephew Sean. He loved working with his hands- the labor of building- from new structures to carpentry, plumbing, flooring. He was a Mr. Fixer up it! He also was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
He is survived by his brother, Donald (Mary) Hardy of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Falsetti of Lewiston, NY; five grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews and 22 great-nieces and nephews, who gave him the nickname of UG (Uncle Gary); sister in-laws, Linda (Winker) Hardy and Jeannie (Nanula) Hardy; former wife Carol (Gentile)Pawlak;friend, Gary Harris. His chosen family, Jennifer (Greg)Pokoj, Mark Huffman, Kim Lewis, and Michele (John) Bennett. He was predeceased by his son, Gary W. Hardy II; daughter, Bethany A. Hannaford; brothers, Ronald K. Hardy, John R. Hardy and Charles D. Hardy; wife, Sherry (McAllister) Hardy.
There is NO PRIOR visitation. Burial in Western New York National Cemetery, Corfu, NY. At the convenience of the family. Gary will be forever in our hearts, gone from our sight but never from our hearts. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.
