Rose Muto

Rose Muto, 91, of Lewiston, NY, and formally of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away in the presence of her family on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Born April 8, 1932, in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Dominick Gara and Angelina (Archie) Gara. Raised in Niagara Falls, Rose attended local schools.
Rose married the love of her life, Victor on July 30, 1948, and were married for 71 years prior to his passing in 2020. They lived in Niagara Falls for 50 years before moving to Lewiston. Together they raised 8 children and were blessed with 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A devoted wife and mother of eight, she spent much of her life tending to the home and raising her children. She was a longtime member of Mt. Carmel Church and their mother’s club.
When her husband purchased the New York Fish Market, she was always seen behind the counter happily helping the customers. When at home, her greatest love was avidly cooking and baking very large amounts of food for her family and friends. Above all, Rose will be remembered for her loving and caring ways. She dedicated her life to entire family who will miss her dearly.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Jean (John) Stirling and Diane (Gary) Bevilacqua; sons Victor (Judy) Muto, Richard (Mary) Muto, Alfonse (Roseann) Muto, Dominick (Lucy) Muto, Vincent (Christine) Muto all from Lewiston, and Michael (Kimberly Moran) from Thompsons Station, Tennessee; her loving grandchildren, Michelle (Jeremey) Corrente, John (Kimberly) Stirling, Victor (Krissy) Muto, Laura (Shaun) Bielec, Alfonse (Luciana) Muto, Gina (Michael) Cournyea, Sarah (John) Sarich, Toni (Scott) Bielec, Richard Muto, Nicole Thomson, Dominick (Angela) Muto, James (fiancé Cari) Thomson, Angela Muto, Vincent Muto, Rosie (Michael) Masseo, Lindsay Muto and Tori Muto; her brother-in law Alfonso Muto of Phoenix, Arizona; her sisters-in-law, Aurora (late Joseph) Etopio of Youngstown, NY and Mary (late Anthony) Piccirillo of Niagara Falls, NY, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mary (late Walter) Grochowina, Frank (late Dottie Gara), Sam (late Nancy) Gara, Anthony (late Dorothy) Gara and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfonso (late Josephine) Piccirillo, and Frank (late Connie) Piccirillo.
A very special thank you to her amazing aids, Gina, Phyllis, Davene, & Tylin. They have been angels sent from God who have cared for her and loved her.
A private celebration of life service will be held for Rose’s family with entombment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.
