Martin S. Lis, 70, of Lockport, NY, passed from this life on November 23, 2021. Born on March 21, 1951 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Stanley and Estelle (Popowich) Lis. On October 12, 1974, Marty married Jo Ellen Bassage.
Marty attended local schools, graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1969 and earned his bachelors degree from RIT. He retired on October 31, 2021 from the United States Government, where he was employed in the human resource department. Marty was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church. He was an avid reader and an advocate for animal rescues. Marty enjoyed fishing, history and spending time with his cats.
In addition to his beloved wife of over 47 years, Marty is survived by children, Jeremy (Jennifer) Lis and Suzanne (Timothy Stonebraker) Lis; grandchildren, Ella and Emma; siblings, Joseph (Sandie) Lis and Richard (Jan) Lis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Frank Lis.
The family will be present on Saturday, November 27th from 1-4 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where Marty’s funeral service and life celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to an animal charity of one's choice. Professional arrangements are under the care of the Goodlander family.
