John Ivan Lozina, 91, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life on May 31, 2022. Born on November 15, 1930 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Ivan and Mary (Barbic) Lozina. On March 20, 1954, John married. Pierrette Sicard. She predeceased him on August 13, 1994.
John was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict, until his honorable discharge on July 13, 1955. Following his dedicated service, John worked construction and on the power project. He later became a business owner of local establishments in the city of Niagara Falls. John also was employed by the Maid of the Mist in retirement years until the age of 82. He was a talented pool player and an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes.
John is survived by children, Ivan 'Jack' (Lynn) Lozina, Claudette (Peter) Cawley and Cherelle Lozina; grandchildren, John, Kelly, Michelle, David and Ava; great-grandson, Leo; brothers, Robert (late Mary) Lozina and George (Betty Lou) Lozina and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kimberly Cawley and his siblings, Mildred (late Jim) Kennedy, Norma (late George) Wachob and Stanley (late Dorothy) Lozina.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, June 3rd from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where John’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Mario Racho officiating. Private interment will follow, concluding with Military Honors, in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Professional arrangements are under the care of the Goodlander family.
