- Rebecca Anne (Cowling) ZieglerAge 66, of Wheatfield, NY passed away unexpectedly and much too soon on November 4, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time she passed.Rebecca was born on December 20, 1955 to Thomas and Marlene Cowling in Niagara Falls, NY. After graduating from Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School, she went on to receive an A.A.S. degree from Niagara County Community College and worked as a certified dental assistant for several years. She then worked for the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, from where she retired in 2015.In 1974, Rebecca married Glen Ziegler, her best friend and the love of her life. Together they had 2 daughters, Tristan and Colby. They made their home in Wheatfield, NY, in an 1800’s era farmhouse of which Rebecca was truly proud. During their life together, they also shared their home with several beloved pets.Rebecca was an active member, and past Elder and Deacon, at North Presbyterian Church. She was also an accomplished lace maker and enjoyed sharing her passion for tatting, and teaching tatting, at local festivals and events with the Heritage Village Lace Guild. Rebecca was an avid fisherwoman and loved spending time with her husband and grandchildren on the family’s pontoon boat, the “Pippi-Roo”. She was also in training to become a commercial drone pilot. Rebecca was predeceased by her father, Thomas Cowling, in 1998. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family, including her husband Glen, her daughters Tristan Ziegler and Colby Damon, her son-in-law Sean Damon, and her twin grandchildren Piper and Reilly Damon. She is also survived by her mother, Marlene Cowling, her sisters Kim Cowling and Evelyn Lauer, her brother-in-law Martin Lauer, along with several more family members and countless friends near and far.In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Rebecca’s name to Buffalo C.A.R.E.S. animal rescue or another animal rescue organization of your choice. Friends may visit from 3-5pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Niagara Falls. A brief remembrance service, provided by Rev. Stuart Buisch, will begin at 5pm after the visiting hours have concluded.
