- DAYTON, KAREN (nee Martindale), age 82 of Kenmore, NY peacefully December 7, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Wife of 60 years to John M. Dayton, mother of Susan Webb, Amy Dayton, Jennifer (Matthew) Kirschner and Julie (Michael.) Dayton-Plyter, grandmother of Timothy (Kelsey), Kirsten (fiance' Alex), Jacob (Andrea), Jonas (Angel), Zinhle, Julian, Samuel, Madelyn and Andrew, great grandmother of Sierra, Max and Kevin, daughter of the late Donald and Marie Martindale, sister of Sandra (Paul) Wolfe, Douglas (Darlene) Martindale, Holly (Jay Masuda) Martindale, Scott Martindale, Darcie Ramsdell and the late Debra Fraley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Music has been a major part of Karen's life. As a youth she played the piano; violin and sang. At Alfred State College, she was in the choir and the women's quartet. She taught her daughters piano and an appreciation for classical music. She was a devoted wife and mother teaching her girls many life skills. She loved skiing, tennis and golf. We Summered at Camp Chautauqua and enjoyed jet skiing and boating. During the 2000's, Karen went on Medical Mission trips to the Dominium Republic. Karen was very involved with her church, The Chapel and sang in the church choir for over 30 years. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday December 28, 2022 from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM at JOHN 0. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts) in Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday following the visitation. Everyone welcome to attend. A private family burial will be held at Elmlawn Cemetery.
