- CLIFFORD - Sharon R.
"Sherry" (nee Kornaker)
Age 83, passed away peacefully under the care of hospice on Sunday, March 05, 2023 at her home in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in North Tonawanda on September 09, 1939 to Joseph and Marie Kornaker. Sherry was a skilled roller skater and during her teen and preteen years could often be found at local rinks. She worked in the hours after school at Jones Florist on Payne Avenue where she developed her affinity for working with her hands and a lasting fondness for Mrs. Meyers, the proprietor. After graduating from North Tonawanda High School in 1957 where she was a proud member of the cheer leading squad, she received a teaching degree at Buffalo State College. She taught in various area schools for a brief time before deciding, on a whim, to visit friends in New York City. She ended up staying and working there where she met and married her future husband, Francis (Frank) Clifford, in 1963. Frank and Sherry lived and raised a family in various parts of the Country before settling in Arizona in the mid 90's. Sherry enjoyed reading and crocheting, both often accomplished with her beloved cat, Eko, at her side. She crocheted whatever could be crocheted or held together with crochet and kept everyone she knew supplied with pot holders and oven towels. Sherry will be remembered by family and friends for her quirky sense of humor, coupon cutting and thriftiness, and amazing fortitude in facing illness and loss. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Clifford; daughter, Colleen Clifford and son, Jeremiah Clifford. Sherry is survived by her sons, Sean Clifford and Daniel Clifford; sister, Joanne (William) Choboy; brother, David (Janine) Kornaker; several cousins, including Mary Beth(Lew) McCaw and Jamie (Richard) Domis; and many nieces and nephews.
