- Cecelia "Cece" Evert Obituary
Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in Our Lady of Peace, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 7, 1940, a daughter of the late Emmett P. and Beatrice T. [Fennell] Greene.
Cece graduated from St. Mary's for Girls in 1957 and then attended Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo.
Cece was employed for many years with the Niagara County Probation Department and with the Hooker Chemical Company in New York City.
She had lived in Pennsylvania and Maryland before moving back to Lewiston in 1978.
Cece was a dedicated member of St. Peter's Church in Lewiston and a very active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, serving as officer in the Division #1. In 2015 she was the Grand Marshall of the Niagara Falls St. Patrick's day parade and celebration, following in the footsteps of her mother and sisters and received the Hibernian of the year in 2024.
While her children were at Lew-Port, she and her husband were very involved in their school activities.
Cece was the wife of 50 years to the late Edward Evert, who passed away in September of 2016, they were married on August 27, 1966 in the former St. Teresa's of the Infant Church.
She is survived by her children Eric Evert, Craig (Tracey) Evert, Darryl (Patricia Robles) Evert and Shannon (Marc) Niccola, five grandchildren Taegan and Peyton Evert, Jacob and Jordan Niccola and Ella Ann Evert, siblings Robert E. (Charlotte) Greene, John F. (Marilyn) Greene, Mary Agnes (Robert) Justiana and sister in law of Bruce Fitting, also many nieces and nephews.
Cece was the sister of the late Susanne (Joseph) LeGasse, Kathleen (Henry) Florence and Michael D. Greene.
Moms heart truly beat for her children and grandchildren, they were her whole world.
We would like to extend our heart felt gratitude to the wonderful staff nurses and aides at OLP for their love and care for our mom.
Her family will be present on Sunday from 4-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.
Memorials may be made in her name to the March of Dimes.
Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
