Everett Tilkins
June 15, 2024
Everett ‘Irv’ Tilkins, 68, of Grand Island, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family. Born in London, England, he and his parents, the late Maureen (nee Parsons) and Donald Tilkins, moved to the US when Everett was four years old. Everett was a proud 1973 graduate of “My Old School,” LaSalle Senior High School. He attended NCCC earning an Associate’s Degree in business.
Everett was known by many as “Mr Roofer,” the guy you could trust to give you “Peace of Mind” with all your roofing and siding questions. As an entrepreneur, he never gave up his dream of having something special to pass down to his children. Businesses that he owned included but were not limited to Dunrite Gutters, Tilkins Roofing and Siding, Custom Keepsakes, Roofers By Zip, ask mr. roofer, and Just Repairs.
Everett always wished to leave a legacy of the Tilkins name being synonymous with integrity, honesty, and quality. Whenever his “Boys are Back in Town,” Irv (as he is known by many) always enjoyed meeting them out to “Listen to the Music” of their favorite local bands. “Imagine” this, he even traveled to Tennessee to see his high school buddies reunite for a concert.
Everett loved to travel and has been on some “Amazing” adventures including a trip to England to meet his Uncle Colin and cousins Julie, Quentin, and Russell Parsons. Everett had many “dadisms,” but some that the kids remember most, “balance and moderation,” “what are the odds?,” “do you have that finski you owe me?,” “jeet?,” “bwayno,” “are you pullin’ my legs off?,” and “good judgement.” Everett, your best wiener dog, Jay, says, “You’re My Best Friend.”
Everett is survived by his wife and soul mate, Deb (nee Tomaszewski), four loving children, Cameron (Melissa), Nathan (April), Samantha (Graham), and Carly, and six grandchildren Riley, Declan, Ashlynn, Aaron, Benjamin, and Violet. He is also survived by his father-in-law, John Tomaszewski, beloved sister-in-law, Mary Lynn, and nephew, Michael, one brother, Colin (Linda) and one sister, Jeanette (Chris). He is predeceased by his cherished brother, Marty, and his parents, Maureen (nee Parsons) and Donald, as well as his mother-in-law, Rebecca ‘Becky’ Tomaszewski.
“Oh Darlin’,” I promise that “You’ll Be in my Heart” forever and always. I can’t wait to join you again in the “House of the Rising Sun” someday. You finally have a “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and are riding motorcycles with Marty on the other side.
“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
Visitation will be Thursday, June 20 from 2 – 6 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where Everett’s funeral services will begin at 6:00 PM. Memorial donations in Everett’s name may be made to Angiosarcoma Awareness, Inc at Angiosarcoma Awareness PO Box 4919 Portland, ME 04101 or cureasc.com.
