- Mary A. Piccirillo, 99, passed away at her residence on September 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Retsof, NY she was the daughter of the late Ignazio and Rita (Cichelli) Valente.
Mary came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1942. She married her beloved husband Anthony C. Piccirillo on April 26, 1947 in Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Tony passed away on November 24, 1985 after 38 years of marriage.
Mary was employed as a secretary with the Carborundum Corporation before starting her family. She later worked as a cashier for Tops Supermarkets for over 20 years and as a seamstress during the 1960’s and 1970’s at her sister’s bridal shop, “Valente’s…. for the Bride”, all located in Niagara Falls, NY.
Mary was a superb cook, cake decorator, seamstress and gardener. Most of all, she was the loving matriarch to her dear family.
Mary is survived by her children, Joseph Piccirillo, Diane Piccirillo and Donna (John) Sanchez; Grandson, Anthony Bagneschi; sister-in-law Rory (late Joseph) Etopio; brother-in-law Alfonse (Davie) Muto; several aunts and cousins, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Minnie (late Anthony) Yamonaco and Florence (late Samuel) Archie; her brother Francis (late Rita) Valente, and infant brother Frank Valente. Also predeceased by her brothers-in-law Alfonso (late Josephine) Piccirillo, Frank (late Connie) Piccirillo and Victor (late Rose) Muto.
Visitation will be on Friday September 6 from 10 – 11:15 AM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, 14304 where prayer services will be held at 11:15 AM followed by Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Site, 27th St. and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
