- Lucy A. Martelli, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Josephine (Gruppo) Caprio; and the beloved wife of the late Silvio Martelli whom she married on March 29, 1951 in Our Lady of Lebanon Church.
Lucy graduated from Trott Vocational High School and attended Niagara University. She began working at Hooker Chemical Co., Great Lakes Carbon Company and later retired from St. Mary’s Manor in the accounting department. Lucy, along with her family, also owned and operated the former Lum’s Restaurant in Niagara Falls from 1969 to 1975.
Lucy was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Lebanon Church formerly in Niagara Falls. She was a member of their Altar & Rosary Society, as well as an eucharist minister for many years.
Lucy was a member of the Eagle Club and enjoyed line dancing, as well as going out to eat. She also enjoyed a good classic movie. Above all, Lucy cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Lucy is survived by her children Edmund (fiancé Vicki Kent) Martelli, Silvio (Kathy) Martelli and Rocco (Chiara) Martelli; her grandchildren, Ed Jr., Michael (Crystal), Anthony (Shannon), Richard Martelli, Silvio Jr., Olivia, Rocco Jr. (Sarah), Joseph, Michelle (Michael) Drake, and Christina (Angelo) Morinello; 18 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard (Jollie) Caprio; her two special nieces, Linda and Cheryl Caprio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, James (Jeane) Caprio.
Visitation will be held October 7 from 10-11 AM in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where Lucy’s Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
