Age 80, of the City of Tonawanda. Wife of 54 years to the late Chauncey R. Syposs, Jr., who died in 2016, mother of Chauncey R. Syposs, III and. Derrick A. Syposs, grandmother of Dr. Chauncey R. (Jessica) Syposs, IV and Ariana Syposs, daughter of the late Ralph and Emma Barr, sister of Kathleen (Steve) Maguire, mother in law of Trish, Betsy and Kat, aunt of James (Kayla) Maguire and Katie Keegan. Also many other nieces and nephews. Gayle was a 1961 graduate of Tonawanda High School. She was the first woman elected to the City of Tonawanda Common Council, serving for 12 years, was Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Erie County Board of Elections, served as City Clerk for the City of Tonawanda for 2 years, was Chairman of the City of Tonawanda Democratic Committee for more than 20 years, was Vice Chair and Treasurer of the Erie County Democratic Committee and was Chair of Erie County Democratic Town Chairs Assn. and was a NYS Democratic Committeeman. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday November 18, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Bethesda Full Gospel Tabernacle, 6 Delaware St. (corner of Broad St) City of Tonawanda, where a Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM following the visitation. Everyone welcome to attend. A private interment will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.
