- In late October, 2023 Charles Livingston ("Livy") Banta passed away from natural causes at his residence in Lockport, NY. He was just shy of his 55th birthday on November 1st. Livy attended Ridley College boarding school in Ontario, Canada and Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. He was an excellent tennis player and a very intelligent observer of the human condition. With his wry and lively sense of humor, he brought goodwill and good cheer to his circle of close friends. A lover of classical music and fan of specific film scores he found a favorite café at Spot Coffee where he shared many happy moments with his grandfather, Charlie Banta. Later in life Livy bravely confronted numerous medical challenges and never ceased to try to make positive connections with his family. The son of Charles Banta and Wendy Hyde, Livy is survived by his father, his uncles, George and Edward Hyde, Philip Banta, his aunt, Melissa Banta, as well as his half-brother and sister Peter and Halley Andres. His cousins include John Alexander Hyde, Edward Hyde IV, Grace Hyde Walker, daughter of his aunt Kathryn Hyde, Christopher LeGare, Adriana Banta, Olivia Tyson, Gabrielle Banta, Maximilian Banta, Nicholas Tyson, and Sophia Banta. He was the cherished grandson of George Hyde Sr. and Barbara Hyde as well as Charlie and Melissa Banta. He will be greatly missed for his vitality, his vulnerability, his empathy, his compassion, and his courage in the face of adversity. There will be a private Celebration of his Life this coming Spring.
