George M. Cruickshank
GEORGE M. Cruickshank, 86, of Cayuga Village, Town of Niagara, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 1994 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. A native of Falkirk, Scotland, he was born Nov. 7, 1907, the son of Duncan and Janet (MacGregore) Cruickshank. He attended schools in Scotland until he came to the United States at the age of eight. Employed by the Niagara Falls Police Department as a police detective captain for 32 years, he retired in 1969. Mr. Cruickshank was a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club, Niagara Falls Oldtimers Hall of Fame and the Retired Men's Lawn Bowling Association. He was also. an honorary inductee into the Tuscarora Indian Nation and an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Anne (Johnson) Cruickshank of the Town of Niagara; a son, George Jr. of Wilson; two daughters, Nancy Fees of Gasport and Penny Conley of Niagara Falls; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Duncan and Charles Cruickshank and Dorothy Rissler. Private services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
