Darryl P. DiNoto

Darryl P. DiNoto, 75, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away February 25, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Peter A. and Janet (Porfilio) DiNoto.
Darryl attended local schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School and graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. On May 16, 1968, he married Linda M. (LaPlante) DiNoto. Darryl held many positions over the years, including working as a Traffic Safety Officer for the Niagara County Sherriff’s Department from 1995 until 2001, working for Niagara County Buildings & Grounds for ten years, serving as Assistant Commissioner for the Niagara County Board of Elections from 2012 until 2017, and acting as the Facilities Director for the Niagara Falls Water Board from 2017 until his retirement in 2020. Being a very civically engaged person, Darryl also proudly served as the Treasurer of the Niagara County Democratic Committee, an organization he was an active member with for over 25 years. He was also a longtime member of the Niagara University Alumni Association.
Darryl was a man of many hobbies and interests. He loved nature and astronomy, and was involved with the Buffalo Astronomical Association. Bird watching, nature days at Tifft and Letchworth Parks, boating, fishing, and gardening were some of his favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors. He occasionally lectured at the Buffalo Museum of Science on some of his passions and interests. Darryl’s favorite passion, however, was cooking for his family and friends. Above all he cherished spending time with his beloved family. Darryl will be remembered most as a smart, thoughtful, curious, and generous man.
In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, Darryl is survived by his children, Deborah (Michael) Asklar and Dawn (Christopher) Gierschke; his grandchildren Noah Asklar, Emma Asklar, Ava Asklar, and Sophia Gierschke; his sister, Marsha (James) Bruno; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM.
