lGeraldine Cindric Life story
Geraldine “Gerry” Ruth Bailey-Cindric entered the pearly gates of Heaven on March 14, 2025, just as she lived her life: hair freshly done, make-up on point and a dress from the Bon-Ton. She also carried with her a plate of cookies for St. Peter, to thank him for the invitation. Gerry’s husband of 51 years, Zeke, was waiting to hold her hand once again, this time for eternity.
Gerry was born in Niagara Falls, New York, the middle of seven children and the daughter of Carl and Angela (Hennegan) Bailey. As a young woman, Gerry spent most of her time with three young girls that would turn into lifelong friends: Marianne (Capone) Wisbaum, Paula (Campanaro) Brekke and Jan (Wilson) Tripi.
Gerry graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1971. Shortly after she married the love of her life, James “Zeke” Cindric, a love affair which lasted 51 years, until Zeke’s untimely passing in February of 2024. It wasn’t long after their marriage that Gerry and Zeke welcomed two girls into the world: Rebecca (Cindric) Tantillo and Kristina (Cindric) Colavecchia.
Gerry loved both girls with an intensity that found her fully immersed in their upbringing, from Girl Scouts to dance to cheerleading and activities too numerous to list. Her children and husband were her world and she sacrificed much to make sure her family flourished.
Once Becky and Tina began to grow into the strong and beautiful women that they are today, Gerry decided to return to school and pursue a degree in education, graduating with honors from Niagara County Community College in 1992. Gerry then obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees from Buffalo State University.
Gerry eventually took a position at North Tonawanda High School where she taught history for many years, influencing thousands of students with equal parts passion for the subject matter and the wellbeing of the young women and men that passed through her classroom door.
Lastly, no one can finish describing the life of Gerry Cindric without talking about her grandchildren. If we thought she was passionate about her children and her students, it paled in comparison to the love she had for Sofia, Stefania, Justina, Stellina and Easton. Gerry developed her own special bond with each grandchild and instilled in them the morals and values that she held dear to her heart. Gerry was taken from us far too soon, but in the time that we had her, she gave us memories that will be cherished for many years to come.
Gerry is the widow of James “Zeke” Cindric and is survived by her two daughters Rebecca (Anthony) Tantillo and Kristina (Frank) Colavecchia, five grandchildren: Sofia, Stefania, Justina, Stellina and Easton, six brothers and sisters: Lawrence (Bernadette) Bailey, Martha (Jim) Swinson, Eileen (Leonard) Sax, Raymond (Sylvia) Bailey, Douglas (Kim) Bailey and Steven Bailey, along with many nieces and nephews.
Her family will be present on Friday, March 21st from 2:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Funeral services will be held at St. John De Lasalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY on Saturday, March 22nd at 10:00 a.m., with longtime family friend, the Rev. Zachariah Presutti, SJ., who was gracious enough to come from Manhattan, NY, to be with us.
