- Obituary for Richard "Rick" Schumacher
Richard "Rick" Schumacher, 65, of North Tonawanda, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on Monday (May 27, 2024) at Buffalo General Hospital. Rick was born in North Tonawanda on September 18, 1958 to Donald and Laura (Staschak) Schumacher.
Rick worked his entire life at Mike’s Service (NT), from sweeping the floors as a child to owning the shop in recent years - fixing every car in between. He was a hockey coach for the Wheatfield Blades and Starpoint Hockey Club for over 35 years and a racer and crew chief at Ransomville Speedway. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always putting his family first.
Rick was predeceased by his father Donald Schumacher.
Rick is survived by his sons Ryan and Steve (Julie) Schumacher, mother Laura (Staschak ) Schumacher, sister Debbie (Kevin) McCumber, grandchildren Cole and Evan Schumacher, aunt Sharon York, uncles Mike Staschak, and Gordy Schumacher, nieces and nephews Dan (Margo) McCumber, Kevin and David McCumber, Dina ( Kyle ) Allen, Nathan and Connor Allen. Also surviving are many close cousins, and special friends.
Friends may call Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, NY. Interment will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Niagara Hospice.
