- Benjamin J. D’Ambrosio, 90, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on July 31, 2024 in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Filicetti) D’Ambrosio.
Ben attend ed local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School before attending the University of Montana, receiving his Bachelor’s degree, and playing football as a running back. He then went on to Central Michigan University, ultimately receiving his Master’s degree in Education. Ben was a history teacher in the Mt. Pleasant Public School system in Michigan.
Ben started in his early years working alongside his father in the D'Ambrosio Building Company in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a carpenter by trade working for the Carpenter’s Local #280, #289, and #276, all in WNY. He also owned D’Ambrosio Construction in the Niagara Falls area as well as working in the construction field throughout the United States.
Ben enjoyed playing handball in his earlier years, as well as weightlifting, solving crossword puzzles, and reading, particularly anything history-related.
Ben is survived by his children, Pete (Sharry) D’Ambrosio and Alana (William) D’Ambrosio- Berry; grandchildren, Joe (Shaina) D’Ambrosio and Will (Erika) Berry; great-grandchildren, Kaidyn, Magnolia, and Savannah D’Ambrosio; his sister, Linda (Ron) Hulsizer; love of his life, Mary S. Kankolenski, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gerald (Susan) D’Ambrosio.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Peace for the excellent care he received during his brief stay.
According to Ben’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital P.O. Box 1999 Memphis, TN 38101, or Heart, Love, and Soul food pantry at 939 Ontario Ave., Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
