- James W. "Jim" Bacon, 64, of Lyndonville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Medina Memorial Hospital.
Born on November 22, 1947, He was the son of Barbara (Henderson) and the late Armand Bacon.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Medina High School where he was a member of the Mustang football and baseball teams. In 1982 he married Julia Whipple. Together, they raised their combined five children first in Newfane and then Lyndonville. Beginning with the go-carts he built with his dad in the basement of their Roseland Avenue home and continuing with the boats and snowmobiles he later raced, Jim maintained a lifelong passion for building fast, powerful engines. He was a certified Master Engine Machinist and spent a career working at numerous machine shops in the area, including the family business, Lockport Automotive, and most recently, West Falls Machine in East Aurora. Jim's hobbies included participating in tractor pulls, skeet shooting, and motorcycle and snowmobile riding. For the past several years, he coordinated the 4th of July tractor pull sponsored by the Lyndonville Lions Club. Some of his fondest memories were of times spent at his beloved Kahshe Lake.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Julia (Whipple) Bacon of Lyndonville. Children: Christine (Jeffrey) Abramowitz of Alexandria, VA, Michele (Eric) Harling of Lyndonville, NY, James (Kimberly) Watts of Huntington, MD, James (Devon) Bacon of Yosemite, CA, Brian (Stacie) Bacon of Leesburg, VA.
Eight Grandchildren: Alexandra, Jessica, Hannah, Sarah, Nolan, Lauren, Catie and Harlow. Sister: Nancy (Larry) Boyd of Washago, Ontario. Also, several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
