- Sister Lucina Stang, OSF Obituary
Sister M. Lucina Stang, OSF, born Lillian Stang in Buffalo, NY on May 12, 1931, died on November 20, 2024 at the Stella Niagara Health Center, Stella Niagara, NY. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lucia (Willi) Stang.
Sister Lucina entered the Sisters of St. Francis on February 2, 1951 and was professed August 18, 1953. Sister Lucina received her B.S. degree from Rosary Hill (Daemen University) in Buffalo, New York in 1961; and MS. Ed degree from State University of NY at Buffalo in 1975. She taught at St. Benedict School, Eggertsville, NY (1953-54); St. Agnes School, Atlantic Highlands, NJ (1954-58); St. Ann School, Buffalo, NY (1958-61); St. Joseph School, Gowanda, NY (1961-62 and 1969-78); Stella Niagara Elementary School, Stella Niagara, NY (1962-69); St. Peter School, Lewiston, NY (1978-79); Stella Niagara Education Park, Stella Niagara, NY (teaching 1979-97) , tutoring and assisting with lunch program (1997-2004) and Library assistant (2004-14).
Besides her parents, Sister Lucina was predeceased by a brother Werner (Olive) Stang, a sister Rosemarie (Anthony) Angermeier and a great-niece Kristen Stang. She was the loving aunt of Jean (Phillip)Terrano, Mary (Jeffrey, Sr.) Cooke, Karl (Marcia), Paul (Maria) Anton (Luyine), Daniel (Nicole), Susan (Bruce) Bowman, Richard (Terri), Patricia (Ronald, Jr.) Wittmeyer, Joseph (Glorianne) Angermeier, Mary (late Scott) Stevenson and Anne (Roger) Block. Also survived by 29 great-nieces and nephews, 15 great-great nieces and nephews, as well as her Sisters in the Stella Niagara Community.
Sister Lucina retired in 2004 and moved to the Stella Niagara Health Center in 2019.
Wake Monday, November November 25 from 4-7PM with a prayer service at 7PM and Mass of Christian Burial in the Sister's Chapel Tuesday, November 26, at 10AM.
