- Patricia Steiner Obituary
Steiner, Patricia
Dec 23, 1940 - Jun 23, 2025
Age 84, of Depew, NY. Passed away peacefully Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the third of six children born to the late Stanley J and Stephanie (Janik) Sobczyk and wife to the late Herbert C. Steiner. She spent most of her life at home in Depew, NY until she could no longer live alone without care and spent her final year at Mercy Skilled Nursing at Our Lady of Victory. Pat graduated from Niagara Falls High School class of 1958. Immediately after graduation, she started working at Moore Business Forms using her skills as a typist and taking dictation by shorthand. After her marriage she took care of her young children until she could work part-time as a bookkeeper when her children were in elementary school. When her third child was born, she returned to the position of homemaker and the family moved from Rochester, NY to Depew in 1977. As her children became older and started their own careers, she rejoined the work force in various positions such as a clerk at the Bowmansville post office, a retail associate at "American Details" (a gift store for fine art), a real estate agent for Purvis & Brown Realtors, and a receptionist at the front desk for Giokas Financial Services. What she really enjoyed was conversing with people and hearing about their activities and adventures. Throughout her life she displayed an affinity for math. If she was born at a different time, she may have realized her full potential by expanding her math skills and going for additional schooling. She also had a creative sense. She was always doing arts and crafts, sewing unique items and painting ceramics, eventually getting her own kiln along with molds to create beautiful pieces. In their late career/early retirement years, Pat and Herb spent many years on their 33-foot Chris-Craft cruiser, the Brigadoon. They had many friends and fond memories at LaSalle Yacht Club and Inner Harbor cruising on Lake Erie and boating on the Erie Canal. After the boat was retired, they purchased a motor home and were able to travel the east coast and stay in Florida for two winters before they could no longer drive that distance. They also became members of Lazy Lakes Camping Resort in Lockport, NY spending time there with family and friends. Watching her grandchildren grow up brought her much joy. She spent many hours attending events and activities with her grandchildren. Pat is survived by her children, Andrea L. (Bob) Karalus, Karl E. (Peggy) Steiner, and Christopher J. (Melissa) Steiner; grandchildren, Alex and Emilee Karalus, Amanda (Travis) Carpenter, Adam (Jordan) Steiner, Sarah (Anthony) Green, Tim (Emily) Steiner, Haiden and Hannah Steiner, Chris Steiner Jr., Mallory (Brendan) Weierheiser; step-grandchildren Teresa Marie Roth and Hailey Schlosser; great-grandchildren Dean and Vivian Carpenter, Aurora Green; sisters, Marie (late Bill) DeRusha, Dorothy (late James) Juras and Elaine (late David) D'Arcy, Bernadette (Jeff) Vanhorn, brother, late Bobby (late Lorraine) Sobczyk, an uncle, Matthew (Bertha) Janik along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
