- Anna Zdrojewski Obituary
Anna Jean (Mittelstadt) Zdrojewski
Anna Jean Zdrojewski, devout Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother, artist, and writer, died on
February 7, 2025 under the care of Niagara Hospice and her loving family. She was 96.
Born January 12, 1929 in Lockport, NY, she was the first of seven children born to William and Bessie
(Thiemke) Mittelstadt.
On September 15, 1951, she married Marion “Marvin” J. Zdrojewski, and before long, the couple started
a small farm in the Town of Somerset where they raised six children. Anna was a homemaker and to
help stretch the family budget, she grew vegetables along with making jams, pies and homemade fudge
to sell by the roadside. People would come for miles around in search of the farm stand run by the
famous “Fudge Lady”!
A life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ridgewood, she was a member of the choir and
also the Ladies Aid of which she held several offices over the years. From pot luck dinners to rummage
sales, Anna Jean was always there to help. And on Sundays, it was rare that she would ever miss a
service. Her deep faith in God was something she cherished and loved sharing with others.
When her children were grown, she set out to become an artist- which she did, winning many awards
and painting hundreds of art pieces in the process. She was a member of the Niagara Arts Guild until
her passing.
A gifted writer, Anna Jean loved writing long detailed letters utilizing her knack for telling a story with
humor. She was also a very wise woman and knew the value in writing things down. With the help of
her oldest daughter Dayle, she wrote a book of family history and folk stories that was published and
distributed to family and friends.
Until her recent illness, “Anna” was a resident of Briarwood Manor in Lockport.
Anna Jean was predeceased by her husband of almost 31 years, Marion J. Zdrojewski. Also predeceased
by three brothers, Willard, William, and Edward Mittelstadt, and a sister, Edna Pipiles.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Beverly) Zdrojewski of Middleport, Dayle (Paul) Huber of Buffalo,
Brady Zdrojewski (Marianne Myles) of Clarence, Amanda (Nicholas) Alexander of Lockport, Cindy
(Timothy) Christensen of Waterport, and Marty (Crystal) Zdrojewski of Ridgewood, NY. Also survived by
sisters, Mabel Howes of Hartselle, Alabama, Ethel (Alfred) Edmister of Middleport, sister-in-laws Lois
Mittelstadt of Lockport, Sandy Mittelstadt of Homosassa, Florida, 20 grandchildren, 18 great-
grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday,
February 10, 2025 from 3-7 p.m., 2670 Main Street, Newfane. There will be a Christian service on
