- Deborah's Obituary
Deborah (Debbie) Perno Eckert, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY, was called to her heavenly home on September 11, 2025, after a short illness. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Doris (nee Hughes) Blaine, who were temporarily living there as part of the war effort.
Debbie attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School in 1960 and from SUNY Oneonta in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. She began her career as a math teacher for Grand Island High School, leaving for IBM in 1968. She worked for IBM for over thirty years and, after retirement, continued to consult for the company. Upon retirement, Debbie began to volunteer at Heart, Love, and Soul and spent time with the things she loved most: being ever present at her church, hosting her family and friends, river life, and the Buffalo Bills.
Deborah was predeceased by her husband, Dominic Richard Perno. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Donald Eckert, her son Christian (Ann) Perno, and her grandson, John Thomas Perno, stepdaughters, Debbie (Luis) Valdes, Sandi Fadel, Donna Angelucci; and stepsons, Richard (Diane) Perno and Thomas (MaryAnn) Perno. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Jeri (Gary) Mastny and Sherri (David) Rook, her brother, Earl Robert (Jean) Blaine, several grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Bonnie (Roland) Nafus and Linda (nee Blaine) Venuto and a grandson,
Visitation will be Saturday, (Today) September 13, 2025, from 5-8 PM at Lane Funeral Home, Inc., 8622 Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, NY. A church service celebrating her life will be held immediately following the Sunday, September 14th, 10:30 AM service at St Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver St, North Tonawanda, with a reception to follow. There will be a private burial at Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston for the family.
