David William Schroeder

WILSON David William Schroeder, age 72, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2012, with his family at his side at Niagara Hospice House. Born on December 2, 1939 in Buffalo, he was a son of the late William and Ellen M. (Koetzle) Schroeder.
David attended local schools in Buffalo and, at age 17, worked as a Marble Setter for Tiede Zoeler; then for Despirit, where he did work at the Albright Knox Art Gallery. He met his wife, Janice (Kovach), at a hockey game and they were married on October 17, 1964, while serving in the National Guard. David worked for Wendel Duchscherer in Lockport as an inspector until his retirement. A member of St. Brendan on the Lake R.C. Church, he was also an Exempt Member of the South Wilson Fire Company since 1994. David was a Drag Racer for five years, starting with a 1959 Pontiac. He liked to watch NASCAR and all sports. He loved to garden and give the neighbors vegetables, smoked turkey and fish, and putter around.
Surviving him are his wife of 47 years, Janice (Kovach) Schroeder; a sister, Nancy Schroeder of Ransomville; brother-in-law, Tom Kovach of Florida; and nephew, Danny Schroeder of Wheatfield.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM in St. Brendan on the Lake Wilson, followed by entombment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements by the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson, NY.
