Frederick Avery McCarthy, 91, formerly of Laughlin Drive, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 in Millard Fillmore, Gates Circle, unexpectedly. Mr. McCarthy was born August 13, 1916 in Stowe, VT, the son of Frederick and Myrtle (Button) McCarthy. He moved to this area when he was in his 20s. He was formerly employed in the Research and Development Department of E.I. DuPont for over 40 years, prior to retiring in 1987. He was formerly a N.F. Auxiliary Policeman and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid skier and was an adventurer and enjoyed traveling.He is survived by his wife, Donna (Vickers) McCarthy; two nephews, Gerald Moote and Judd Moote and two nieces, Joan McGreevy and Annette Crandall.The family will receive friends from 4 to 7:30 PM Wednesday in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, where a funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Millard Fillmore, Gates Circle, Buffalo, Erie County, NY.
