John Beseth was drowned In
Pinney Pond at Liberty on Sunday
afternoon while bathing. He
and a brother went to the lake
in the early part of the day, and
after paddling round- the shore
for some little time, John, who
was about 20 years of age, told
his brother, who is younger, that
be was going to swim across the
lake at its widest point. He
made the attempt and succeeded
splendidly until he was about 30
feet from the shore when his
strength gave out and he went
down in six feet of water and
drowned. He 'was handicaped
in his effort by the loss of an
arm. Some four years ago while
hunting, his gun accidentally dis
charged, shooting off his left arm
at the elbow. His brother gave
the alarm, but he had been dead
some time When the body was
taken from the water.
