LOCKPORT - Services will
be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday
at the family residence for
Dr. Joseph C. Healy, 59, of 820
Chestnut Ridge Rd., a former
city physician and health offi-
cer who died Monday (Dec. 15,
1958) at his home.
A Requiem Mass will be
celebrated at 9:45 am. Thurs-
day at St. John's Church. Bur-
ial will be in St. Patrick's
Cemetery.
Born June 23, 1899, in Lockport,
Dr. Healy was hospitalized
in June 1957 after a coronary
attack but had recovered
and retired from practice. A
graduate of Canisius College.
Buffalo, he had been health
officer for the Towns of Pendleton
and Lockport in addition
to serving as health officer
here.
Dr. Healy, a graduate of the
St. Louis University School of
Medicine, had practiced here
since 1925. He had served as
staff member of Lockport city
Hospital and Millard Fillmore
Hospital, Buffalo.
He was appointed health of-
focier six years ago by former
Mayor William A. Maillet, and
served through 1956.
Survivors include his wife,
the former Gladys Walker;
four sons, James, Jerry, Mi-
chael and Patrick Healy; four
daughters, Rose, Juliet an d
Nuala Healy and Mrs. Ann
Renner; two brothers, Jere-
miah and John Healy, all of
Lockport; and two sisters, Mrs.
Louis Shanley and Mrs. Agnes
Fuhr, both of Grand Island;
and four grandchildren.
