NEWPORT - Fred Hamblin,
70, of Mechanic Street, died year
terday after he was stricken in
Soron's Appliance Store. Herkimer
County Coroner Gilbert Upright
said death was caused by
a coronary occlusion.
He was born in Northwood.
He married Maude Grower in
Newport in 1925. He was a former
village trustee and had
served as highway superintend*
ent for the Town of Newport
He had been a deputy sheriff
for the past 20 years. He was
a member of the Newport Masonic
Lodge.
Besides his wife, he leaves a
stepson, Millard Grower, Newport;
a stepdaughter, Mrs.
Ernest Fauvelle, Alder Creek;
a sister, Mrs. Grace Jenkins,
Cold Brook, and three brothers,
Elmer, Cold Brook: George,
Walhngford, Vt., and Roy, Ilion.
The funeral will be at 2 Sunday
•from the Autenrith Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Russell
Little, pastor of the Methodist
Church, officiating. Burial will
be in Hurricane Cemetery, Gray.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 today and tomorrow.
