LEWISTON - Grace M. (nee Kandt) Chambers, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Friday, April 11, 2014 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born on August 12, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Anna (Conrad) Kandt.
Mrs. Chambers was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. In 1951, Grace married Jack Chambers, Sr. He predeceased her in 1975. For many years, she was employed as a waitress for the Howard Johnson's Restaurant on Main Street in Niagara Falls, NY, until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Chambers was a longtime member of the former Calvary Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Chambers is survived by three sons, Jack (Angela) Chambers, Jr. of Grand Island, NY, Gary (Dorothy) Chambers of Niagara Falls, NY, and Brian (fiancee Elise) Chambers of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Lindsay (Eric) Pellegrino of Amherst, NY, David (fiancee Brenda) Chambers of Maryland and Sabrina Wright of South Carolina; one sister, Mildred "Millie" (late Norman) Brooks of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was predeceased by four siblings, Richard (late Ida) Kandt, Melvin (late Helen) Kandt, Helen (late John) McMahon and Alberta (late Louis) Mang.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening, from 4-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17th at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S., officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the SPCA of Niagara.
