  December 30, 2011 Marie E. Townsend Niagara Gazette SANBORN — Marie E. Townsend, a lifelong resident of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011, at her home under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. She was born in Sanborn, on September 12, 1922, the daughter of the late Robert and Ethel (Haxton) Warner. Mrs. Townsend served with the Red Cross during World War II. She was employed with Harrison Radiator in Lockport for 25 years, before retiring in 1973. Mrs. Townsend was a member of the former Sanborn United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Sanborn Friendship Club and the Sanborn Historical Society. She enjoyed wood carving, baking, sewing and knitting. Mrs. Townsend was the wife of the late Wilson R. Townsend, who died in November of 1986. She is survived by two sons, Gary W. (Chris) Townsend of Sanborn and Gerald D. (Cindy) Townsend of Youngstown, NY; one daughter, Gail M. (Charles) Flay of Vernon, NY; one brother, Robert Warner of Sanborn; also ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Townsend was the sister of the late Wesley Warner and Dorothy Thompson. The family will be present on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. John Timmerman officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to the Sanborn Historical Society or to Niagara Hospice. Interment at Mount View Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY.
