- June L. (Townsend Armagost) Pressley, 93, passed February 11, 2017 at Northgate Health Care Facility under the care of Hospice after a lengthy illness. She was born in the Town of Cambria in the family home on Lower Mountain Rd. on September 22, 1923, the daughter of the late Clarence and Martha (Williams) Townsend.She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer D. Pressley and her former husband Earl H. Armagost.She was also predeceased by her stepmother, Frances Miller Townsend.
June attended Trott Vocational High School. She and her husband Elmer, owned and operated the Willow Motel on Niagara Falls Blvd, North Tonawanda for 22 years.She was a former member of the Town of Wheatfield Senior Citizens and the Town of Niagara Senior Citizens.She attended DeGraff Adult Day Care Center, North Tonawanda, where she enjoyed the staff, fellowship and activities.She was an avid bowler and reader and loved to travel and spend time with her family. The family would like to thank both the Hospice and Northgate staffs for their love, care and compassion for “Junebug” as she was affectionately nicknamed.It was a tremendous comfort during a difficult time.
June is survived by her daughters Betty Armagost (Allen Sharp)(late Thomas) Shields of Dublin, GA; Nancy Armagost (late Robert) Adams of Niagara Falls; two stepdaughters, Doreen (Barry) Melton of Lewiston, NY & Elaine (Ross) Beecher of Bradenton, FL., one stepson Eric (Marie) Pressley, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, one brother Robert (Connie) Townsend of Phoenix, AZ, a cousin Margueritte (Peggy) Townsend Decker of Pennsylvania. Her blended family includes 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren a great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
June was predeceased by her brothers Russell (late Katherine) Townsend, Glenn (late Grace) Townsend, Clarence (late Mamie) Townsend, Gerald (late Sarah) Townsend, Gorden (late Virginia) Townsend; four sisters; Frances (late Elmer) Honsberger, Mary (late Lawson) Kateley, Ruth (late Raymond) Schul and Joan Townsend; a stepbrother Earl (Jean) Miller and two stepsisters; Marilyn (late Frank) Richel and Audrey Goodenough.
The family will be present SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25th, 2017
from 1-3 at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 8622 Buffalo Ave. followed immediately with services at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be held in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094
