- Walter. J. Kraatz Ran Grocery Store In Ransomville
TOWN OF WILSON - Walter J. Kraatz, 89, of 2324 Maple Rd., Town of Wilson, operator of a grocery store in Ransomville for 21 years, died yesterday (Nov. 7, 1983) in Inter-Community Memorial Hospital in Newfane after a short illness. Born in Lockport, he lived in Wilson for the past 13 years and before that in Ransomville. He was owner of the Kraatz Red and White Store in Ransomville, retiring in 1966, and had been associated with the food industry most of his life. A member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Ridge for 59 years, he was also a past chairman of the congregation of the church and was chairman of the dedication committee when the new church was built. He was also a member of the Ransomville Retirees. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Housmann); a son, Gerald W. Kraatz of Niagara Falls; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Galbraich) Kraatz. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Musall officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hardison Funeral Home, Ransomville, tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions to St. Peter Lutheran Church acceptable as tribute.
