TOWN OF NIAGARA — Richard J. Garrow, Sr., 70, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away at his residence on Friday, December 10, 2010, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Earl and Anna (Smith) Garrow.
Richard was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. On June 24, 1961, he married Marjorie G. (Dell) Garrow at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He was employed as a millwright and welder at Treibacher Schleifmittel North America, Inc., formerly General Abrasives until his retirement in 1990. For over forty years, Richard was actively involved with Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Firemen in the Town of Niagara and was currently an exempt member. He was also a member and past president of the Town of Niagara Lions Club and member of the Wheatfield Lions Club. In his leisure time Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring antique cars.
In addition to his wife of forty-nine years, Mr. Garrow is survived by four children, Kimberly (Harry) Rainer, Richard J. Garrow, Jr., both of Gulf Breeze, FL, William Garrow of Niagara Falls, NY and Glen (Tracy) Garrow of Gulf Breeze, FL; nine grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Grace) Garrow of Niagara Falls, NY; one sister, Beverly Reynolds of Niagara Falls, NY; one aunt, Phyllis Smith of Niagara Falls, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother, Warren (late JoAnn) Garrow.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12th from 2 Ð 6 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, where funeral services will follow at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Town of Niagara Lions Club, 8108 East Britton Drive, Niagara Falls, NY 14304 or Wheatfield Lions Club.
