BOONVILLE — Seymour W.
Barringer, 76, who had been
town clerk, highway superintendent
and justice of the peace
fov Town of Ava, died suddenly
at his home, 103 South St.. here',
'at noon March 11, 1956. Oneida
County Coroner Preston Clark
pronounced death due to cor-
onary occlusion.
Mr. Barringer was also a wel-
fare officer for several years and
served as trustee of School Dis-.
trict 6, Town of Ava, for many
years.
He was born in Town of Lee
on May 6, 1879, a son of C. Ham-
ilton and Martha Haynes Bar-
ringer. He was twice married.
He married Etta Tuttle on
March 18, 1903 in Ava, by the
Rev. George Dermont. She died
May 23, 1916. He married Edna
Brandis on Feb. 26, 1949, at
the clinton Methodist Church, by
the Rev. Alden Smith.
He spent his early life in Town
of Ava, where he owned a farm
at Flint town.
Since moving here in 1942,
Mr. Barringer had worked for
Oneida County Reforestation and
had worked at the Elsasser Loom
Works here the last several
years.
Mr. Barringer was a member
of Ava Methodist Church, Boon-
ville grange 1547, a charter
member of the Maccabees of
West Leyden and Summit Lodge
IOOF, Boonville.
He leaves his wife; four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Herbert Ringwald of
Ava, Mrs. Samuel Spinelli of
Six, Mrs. Stuart Gieseman of
Clinton, Mrs. Harry Hartson of
West Branch; a son, Wallace
Barringer of Ava; a step-daugh-
ter, Judith Brandis, at home; 13
grandchildren; three great grand-
children; a sister, Mrs. Burton
Hurlbut of Boonville; several
nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 Wed-
nesday from the Trainor Funeral
Home here with the Rev. Elton
Parker, Boonville Methodist pas-
tor, officiating. Burial will be in
Ava Cemetery.
